News for December 2, 2022

Senior Drop-In

Seniors! As you start getting accepted into your schools of choice there are still plenty of questions that come with those decisions. We will have drop-in times during (Lynx Time and Lunch) the rest of the month, 12/5 – 12/16. No need to set up an appointment, just check in with your 3rd period teacher and head over to the Counseling Center.

Senior Parents Info Night, Wed, Jan. 4th @ 6pm-7:30pm, starting in the library.

In partnership with the LHS PTSA, the Counseling Crew will host an in-person evening event for our Senior Parents to answer all questions related to graduation, financial aid, college applications, life after high school options, etc… To be more responsive to our Senior Parents, please take a moment to give us your input on what information you would like to receive that evening by filling this form out.

College Applications

This is an exciting time for many of our early action/admissions students who starting to receive acceptance letters.  We’d like to hear from the Class of 2023 and the colleges they were accepted to.  Please fill out this short form to share with us the colleges you were accepted to and the school you are leaning more into attending above others.

Senior Scholarships

Now that all early decision applications have been sent off and will be receiving acceptance soon. It’s time to start thinking about funding your future education. FAFSA, is a financial assistance program to help students afford their education. Also, there are plenty of scholarship opportunities available and we encourage you all to look at scholarships offered by your preferred school. There is a scholarship available for any and all students!

Other “Life After Lincoln” Resources

Check out the new webpage links that can be found under the Lincoln Counseling webpage!  We have added Post-Secondary Options and Applying to College pages to give students support on their life after Lincoln journey.  There you will find lots of great information and ideas.  The Applying to College webpage has a sub-page with links to informative video tutorials for applying to colleges and completing The Common App.

“Talking College” with our 11th graders in ELA classes last week

Last week the counselors visited 11th grade ELA classes and taught them how to use the SuperMatch tool in Naviance.  It is one of the required tasks to complete in the High School and Beyond Plan.  This tool allows students to compare, filter, and research different colleges and universities. This will help them zero in on what schools have their desired programs and any information that will help this process be as smooth as possible. It’s never too early to start planning, check this out too and come to us with any questions you have.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Lynx Counseling Crew wants to open the opportunity to all students to volunteer with us.  We have received a lot of requests this year to work with our team. We are excited to see the interest and want to ensure we have a process for all students to work with us. This form is to understand why you want to volunteer with us, and what projects you are interested in collaborating on. We will be closing this form on December 9th

If you need any further assistance, schedule an appointment through Schoology or stop by if you have a quick question.

Cap and Gown

Seniors and their families can begin placing orders for their cap and gown package, as well as additional senior items, through our vendor at National Achiever. Each senior is responsible for purchasing their own cap and gown package, which includes a graduation gown, cap, standard tassel, and stole. The cost of this package is $51.95, and orders must be placed no later than December 18, 2022. If your family needs financial assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your/your student’s counselor as early as you can.

Any additional senior items from the vendor are completely optional.
