Welcome, Lincoln High School Families!

I would like to extend a warm welcome back to our returning Lincoln High School families; and to our 9th grade and other new families: Welcome to Lincoln!  My name is Xochil, and I am your PTSA President, serving my second term in the 2022-2023 school year. I have been serving on our PTSA since the opening of Lincoln in 2019 and I am proud to have been a part of the work from our past and current board members.  As a bi-racial woman and single parent, I wanted to have a voice in the creation of Lincoln’s community, and over the past 3 years I have worked alongside the most amazing parents and staff to help support opportunities for experiences, events and programs for all our Lincoln students.

As many might know, Lincoln opened in the Fall of 2019, before COVID, and we had struggled to gain momentum as a PTSA during the virtual world over the last few years. Other nearby North End high schools have long-established, well-funded PTSA events, programs, and booster clubs. The fact that Lincoln is still building its own culture is an exciting (and sometimes frustrating) part of being a new school.

Based on requests from the leadership of Lincoln, and in support of a combined focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Lincoln High School PTSA is organized as an umbrella corporation, partnering with and supporting the Athletic Committee and the Performing Arts Committee (PAL) We believe that we are stronger together, and more equitable when we include all student groups & community needs under the funding support of the PTSA.

We can pull off this incredible support via the very generous financial gifts from our Lincoln families. Our annual budget is created in the Spring and is based on prior years’ spending, adjusted for anticipated needs in the coming year. The money that we will be raising with our 2022-2023 Fall Fund Drive will fund programs and needs for THIS school year – needs such as support for more tutoring opportunities to aid with academic struggles many students face due to the virtual learning environment of the last few years. We hope you will join us with financial gifts or gifts of your time – or both! We would love for our PTSA to continue adding diverse voices, to make sure we are hearing from all of our Lincoln families. We have a wonderful group of dedicated parents on our board–many who work full-time–and we have plenty of room for more parents to join us, in roles big or small. Our chief aims are to support Academic Enrichment, Performing Arts and Athletics for all students and to make sure that all of our students have the experience of belonging. We will continue this work with our values placed in belonging, integrating the great work of our DEI committee throughout our entire organization. We look forward to an amazing year!
